Dr. Kouns is a Professor of Palliative Care, and established the first AIMS program at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. The pilot program was published in the national peer-reviewed ‘Journal of Palliative Medicine” as “Best Practices” in “…integrating Palliative Care into the organizational DNA.”. (Journal of Palliative Medicine, Vol. 21, No.5) The AIMS Unit Pilot was also nationally highlighted by the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC)
